IRC Joins TIPNG Walk Against Corruption, Reaffirms Commitment to Integrity and Accountability

Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea — The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) proudly participated in the 16th Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption (SASWAC) on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby, hosted by Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG), reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency and accountability as part of its transformation into a robust, modern and efficient tax administration.

For nearly two decades, the Walk has served as one of Papua New Guinea’s most visible platforms for citizens and institutions to collectively stand against corruption. TIPNG CEO Ms. Arianne Kassman said the Walk is “not a protest or a rally,” but a peaceful and structured celebration of solidarity where corporate teams, school groups and communities promote anti-corruption messages through chants, banners and creative uniforms.

During the event, IRC officers turned up in numbers and walked together in solidarity, proudly chanting the IRC group chant. They were joined by 10 De La Salle school boys, highlighting the importance of building integrity, accountability and good governance across generations.

The theme of this year’s Walk, “Integrity & Action Now!”, closely aligns with IRC’s strategic pillar on Promoting Integrity and Preventing Corruption, one of the seven pillars under the IRC Strategic Plan 2023–2027. This pillar focuses on strengthening internal controls, improving audit systems and using preventive and enforcement measures to combat corruption.

By joining the Walk, IRC demonstrated that fighting corruption requires action from all sectors, especially public institutions entrusted with national revenue responsibilities. Its participation showed that integrity must be practised not only in policy, but also in leadership, service delivery and daily decision-making.

As it evolves into a modern, robust and efficient tax authority, IRC remains firmly committed to upholding its core values of fairness, respect, professionalism, honesty and accountability while continuing reforms under its Strategic Plan 2023–2027.
