CATA 46th Annual Meeting and Technical Conference Officially Kicks Off in Arusha: Advancing Technology for Efficient Revenue Collection, Arusha, Tanzania | 6 October 2026

The 46th CATA Annual Heads Meeting and Technical Conference has successfully kicked off today in Arusha, Tanzania, bringing together Commissioners, Heads of Tax Administrations and senior tax officials under the theme “Leveraging Technology for Efficient Revenue Collection.”


 

Hosted by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) at the Gran Meliá Arusha, the opening ceremony featured welcome remarks from Hon. Amos Makalla, Regional Commissioner for Arusha, followed by the welcome address from CPA Yusuph Juma Mwenda, Commissioner General of TRA,

and opening remarks from Hon. Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, Director General / CEO of Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (CATA President).

 






The conference was officially opened by His Excellency Deogratius John Ndejembi, Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, who delivered the keynote address.







The conference programme will focus on digital transformation, technology-enabled revenue collection, global cooperation and the future of tax administration, providing a platform for tax administrations and partners to exchange experiences, practical insights and approaches to strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation.


With the conference now officially underway, the stage is set for two more days of engaging discussions, knowledge sharing and collaboration. The momentum is building in Arusha as tax leaders and experts come together to explore innovative approaches to digital transformation and more efficient revenue collection.


The coming sessions promise further insights, practical experiences and opportunities to strengthen cooperation across tax administrations. Stay tuned as CATA 46 continues to bring ideas, innovation and partnerships to the forefront.
