The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) recently underwent a Tax Administration Diagnostic Assessment Tool (TADAT) evaluation conducted by a team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). TADAT is an IMF-driven and internationally recognized assessment framework designed to evaluate the performance of tax administrations. It provides an objective and standardized review of tax administration systems, processes, and outcomes, measuring them against established international good practices.
The assessment, conducted across the nine Performance Outcome Areas (POAs), took place from 25 February to 10 March 2026 at the MRA headquarters. The IMF team applied the newly released TADAT Field Guide 2025, issued in December 2025, for the purposes of the assessment.
The previous TADAT assessment of the MRA was conducted in 2017. This latest evaluation aligns with the MRA’s vision to become a modern tax administration characterized by enhanced efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Prior to the assessment, the entire MRA management team received training on the TADAT Field Guide 2025 to ensure proper understanding of the updated framework.
Following the submission of the Performance Assessment Report by the IMF mission team, the MRA will take appropriate actions to address any weaknesses identified during the assessment.
