In March 2026, Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) launched two major initiatives to modernize its digital infrastructure: an upgrade of its Enterprise Portal and a comprehensive enhancement of its core Revenue Administration Information System (RAIS).

These initiatives mark a significant milestone in TAJ’s ongoing digital transformation agenda, strengthening its capacity to deliver efficient, secure, and customer-focused services while enhancing overall tax administration.

Enterprise Portal Modernization

TAJ has commenced a six-month project, in collaboration with True Logic Ltd, to migrate its Enterprise Portal to a modern platform. The upgrade will deliver a comprehensive redesign of the TAJ website, significantly improving usability, accessibility, and performance.

The enhanced portal is expected to provide:

  • Improved mobile responsiveness across smartphones and tablets

  • Greater browser compatibility, including improved performance on iOS devices

  • Seamless integration with TAJ’s core RAIS platform

  • Strengthened security features to safeguard user data

  • Enhanced reporting capabilities for improved data access and analysis

  • Deployment of modern technologies to support a more intuitive user experience

Deputy Commissioner for Strategic Services, Hank Williams, highlighted the importance of the initiative:

“This project is happening at an important time for Tax Administration Jamaica. It will provide our valued customers with a better user interface and an improved online experience.”

The upgraded portal is scheduled for rollout by September 2026, following design, testing, and migration phases. Feedback from both staff and taxpayers will play a key role in refining the platform to meet evolving user needs.

RAIS CORE 26 Upgrade

In parallel, TAJ is undertaking a 12-month upgrade of its RAIS platform, transitioning from GENTAX version 10 - originally implemented in 2014 - to the latest CORE 26 version. The project is being executed in partnership with FAST Enterprises and is scheduled for completion in March 2027.

The upgrade represents a strategic investment in strengthening TAJ’s digital backbone. The enhanced system will deliver a more robust, secure, and user-friendly platform, supporting faster processing, improved data management, and increased system reliability.

Commissioner General, Ainsley Powell, underscored the significance of the initiative:

“The upgrade will improve our interactions with our valued customers and support our continued journey to becoming a world-class tax administration.”

Key enhancements include:

  • Customer Flow Management (queuing and appointments)

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module

  • Strengthened compliance capabilities

  • Enhanced KPIs, reporting, and analytics

  • Advanced security features

  • E-Services Assistant

  • Real-time announcements functionality

RAIS has been central to TAJ’s operations over the past decade, enabling 100 per cent online filing of tax returns and supporting an expanding suite of digital services, including the online renewal of motor vehicle registration for private vehicles.

The CORE 26 upgrade will be implemented with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and change management to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations. TAJ will continue to provide regular updates to taxpayers and partners throughout the implementation process.

Supporting National Development

These initiatives align with the Government of Jamaica’s broader digital transformation agenda and reinforce TAJ’s commitment to improving the ease of doing business, increasing voluntary compliance, and delivering world-class service.
