From 16 to 18 September 2024, the Mauritius Revenue Authority co-organized with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Global Forum Secretariat a Practical Workshop on Common Reporting Standard (CRS) Compliance Audits.

The 3-day workshop which took place at the Integrated Customs Clearance Centre in Le Chaland saw the participation of more than 40 delegates from member jurisdictions of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes of the OECD.
Mauritius understands the pivotal role of the CRS in combating tax evasion and curbing illicit financial flows and it is no surprise that the MRA was amongst pioneered tax administrations of the African continent in implementing CRS. Mauritius is often seen as a benchmark in the African region as regards the effective implementation of CRS.

The objective of the practical workshop was to support delegates in effectively implementing the CRS-AEOI standard by developing in-depth and sustainable capacities on how to ensure that Financial Institutions comply with their reporting, due diligence and record-keeping obligations in practice. It also equipped participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare for their on-going and future effectiveness reviews of the Global Forum where applicable.
