Dear Members,
As we welcome the year 2026, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all members of the CATA family. The New Year presents us with renewed resolve and a clear opportunity to strengthen our collaboration in advancing more efficient, resilient and trusted tax administrations across the Commonwealth.
This year will be an important one for CATA as we continue to build on our progress and move forward with purposeful planning and focused implementation. Our efforts in 2026 will be directed towards deepening capacity building, strengthening technical cooperation, enhancing knowledge exchange on emerging challenges, and supporting innovation and digital transformation within our tax systems. Equally important is our commitment to reinforcing partnerships with regional networks and international organisations, ensuring that CATA remains at the forefront of thought leadership and practical advancement in global tax administration.
Achieving these aspirations will require the continued commitment, energy and leadership of our member administrations. I call upon Commissioners, Heads of Tax Administrations, Regional Directors, Country Correspondents, Working Group leaders and partners across our network to lend your full support to CATA’s programmes and initiatives throughout the year. Your engagement, expertise and willingness to collaborate will be the cornerstone of our collective success.
A significant milestone awaits us later this year when we gather in Tanzania in October 2026 for the 46th CATA Annual Heads Meeting and Technical Conference. This important event will serve as a key platform to shape strategic direction, deepen professional dialogue and reinforce unity among member countries. I strongly encourage members to participate actively and support this conference as we chart the next phase of CATA’s journey together.
As we embark on 2026 with optimism and determination, I am confident that our shared purpose, strong spirit of cooperation and unwavering commitment will enable CATA to further strengthen its relevance, impact and contribution to the global tax community.
With my very best wishes for a meaningful, productive and successful New Year.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin
President
Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA)
