On 4th February CATA was delighted to co-deliver a fascinating virtual workshop on developing taxpayers’ education, encouraging tax morale and increasing compliance. This workshop was the first in the Caribbean Tax Outreach programme, a collaboration between CATA, the Caribbean Community/ Caribbean Organisation of Tax Administrators (CARICOM/COTA), the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), the International Monetary Fund/ Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (IMF/CARTAC), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and World Bank Group (WBG).

Representatives from the Caribbean, Latin America and development partners gave a series of presentations which highlighted the innovative and imaginative strategies pursued across the Caribbean to improve tax education and public engagement with the tax system. 189 participants from across the Caribbean contributed to a lively discussion and the workshop was a great example of best-practice sharing and cross-jurisdictional collaboration.

The Caribbean Tax Outreach programme continues with a workshop on ‘VAT: Digital Trade, Design and Implementation’ on 4th March 2026, open to government representatives from Ministries of Finance, tax administrations and relevant government bodies in the Caribbean region.
