The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) continues to enhance its taxpayers’ experience by making tax compliance smoother, easier, and more rewarding. To motivate individual taxpayers to file their returns on-time and avoid the last-minute rush, the MRA introduced an innovative “Lucky Draw” initiative during the 2025 e-Filing season.

For the 2025 filing season, the statutory deadline for submitting individual income tax returns was 15 October 2025. However, with the introduction of this new initiative, taxpayers who filed their returns and settled any tax payable electronically by 7 October 2025 were automatically entered into the Lucky Draw.

The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response. The number of taxpayers filing on 7 October was more than double compared to the same date during the previous season, thus clearly demonstrating the success of the initiative in promoting early compliance.

The Lucky Draw took place on 29 October 2025 under the supervision of the Gambling Regulatory Authority and five fortunate individual taxpayers each walked away with a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
