The Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) convened its Regional Meeting on 10 December 2025 at the EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bringing together Regional Directors and senior representatives for focused dialogue on regional collaboration, capacity building, and operational effectiveness.

The programme opened with discussions on Capacity Building and Regional Collaboration, highlighting the role of Regional Directors in supporting the Secretariat’s programme delivery and advancing peer learning across regions. Participants identified priority capacity-building needs aligned with CATA’s 2025–2026 work programme and considered approaches to more effectively mobilise member administrations.

This was followed by a session on Operational Strategy, which provided a platform for participants to share experiences, identify common challenges, and explore practical and innovative approaches to strengthening regional cooperation in support of CATA’s organisational objectives.
In the afternoon, participants took part in a Regional Collaborative Retreat, providing a collegial setting for informal dialogue, relationship-building, and cross-regional understanding. Delegates also visited the PETRONAS Twin Towers, an experience that was well received and contributed to the day’s collaborative atmosphere. The visit was made possible through the support of PETRONAS Group Treasury and Tax, underscoring the value of partnership and collaboration in the success of CATA’s Kuala Lumpur meetings. The meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, reinforcing cooperation and professional ties among participants.

“We appreciate the opportunity to host the CATA delegates at the PETRONAS Twin Towers on 10 December 2025 and are pleased to hear that the visit was meaningful and well received. The collaboration with the IRB has contributed greatly to its success,” said Ms Freida Amat, Vice President, Group Treasury and Tax.
