The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) marked its 14 Years of service marking over a decade of progress towards becoming a more approachable and facilitative tax administration. The primary focus of MIRA has now shifted to improving the services, fostering collaboration with taxpayers and enhancing its transparency across the organization.
‘Gulhigen MIRA’ Campaign

To kick off its anniversary events, MIRA launched the ‘Gulhigen MIRA’ (translated as ‘Together with MIRA’) campaign, an initiative aimed at strengthening relationships with taxpayers and stakeholders, building trust, and encouraging voluntary compliance. Through this campaign, MIRA aims to foster stronger connections to achieve greater transparency and promote tax compliance as a moral responsibility of taxpayers. The initiative includes plans for various employee activities to further develop internal engagement and efficiency as well.

As part of the campaign, MIRA is currently working to update guides in order to make them more interactive and easier for taxpayers to understand tax obligations. Additional educational programs on taxpayer obligations are also planned for the upcoming quarter. These programs will also be recorded and made available on the MIRA website for taxpayers.
Additionally, MIRA has also planned to conduct tax consultant forums. These forums will be focused on educating tax consultants and addressing any concerns they may have.
Open Day 2024
In celebration of its 14th Anniversary, MIRA also held an open day, inviting the public to visit MIRA offices, interact with staff, and learn more about the functions and services.

Visitors were given guided tours of various departments to better understand MIRA’s role in tax collection, compliance monitoring, and taxpayer services.
